On Jan 18 PNC celebrated the anniversary of one of the most famous speeches in history, Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I have a dream."
The day opened with a morning breakfast free to the PNC community and the public in return for a book donation to children in need:
Dr. Sharron Jenkins of PNC produced a presentation of the Life of Martin Luther King, Jr. Proclamations followed by Mayor Chuck Oberlie of Michigan City and Mayor Kathy Chroback of La Porte. Dr. Sharon Jenkins graced the audience with a musical tribute in which she sang the words of freedom.
The guest of honor was Dr. Quentin Smith, one of the few remaining Tuskegee Airmen from World War II. Dr. Smith spoke about his experiences in the Great War. He pointed out that the belief among many people during that time was that "African Americans could not fly planes." He also stated African Americans could not enlist in the Air Corps without college degrees. The Tuskegee Airmen turned the rules around and made history in turn. At the end of their reign, they managed to contribute $2 million in scholarships, thanks to the revenue from the movie produced by George Lucas that told the Tuskegee Airman story.
Dr. Alcus G. Cromartie, Tuskegee Airman "New Generation," also spoke on his experiences in the service. He stated that it was in the military that he began a career that later led to his becoming a professor. He touched on things such as Dr. King's message and terrorism in the United States today. Ultimately, his message was that "the future is dependent upon its youth."
To close the program, a special performance was given by the Michigan City Soul Steppers, who showed fancy footwork in praise to God. Chair of the MLK, Jr. Community Celebration Committee Fred McNulty closed the program, giving special thanks to corporate donors: The PNC Chancellor's Diversity Fund, Horizon Bank, La Porte Savings Bank, Michigan City Human Rights Commission, Swanson Center and Unity Foundation of La Porte County.

I risk to seem the layman, but nevertheless I will ask, whence it and who in general has written?
