Illinois legislators Ed Maloney and Monique Davis in discussions with The Cougar Chronicle Aug. 14 condemned remarks uttered last spring by the university's financial aid director that labeled CSU students as "ghetto."
The issue was resurrected earlier this month when administrator Beverly John deflected questions about the future of the university's athletic programs and voiced her objections to student media coverage of the financial aid director's past remarks.

Early Saturday morning, Presidential candidate Barack Obama announced among much anticipation that his running mate for the 2008 election will be Senator Joseph Biden from Delaware. Biden, 65, has been a member of the Senate since 1973. He was the earliest dropout in the 2008 Democratic primaries.

The Board of Trustees appointed a new chancellor for UIC this past July.
UIC voted for Paula Allen-Meares to overtake the chancellor position. Allen-Meares will officially begin as chancellor of UIC on January 15, 2009.
